Dear CAYA;
After seeing the progress my brother John has made, I am compelled to write a letter of thanks. John is 53 years of age and is incapable of speech and hearing. Growing up on the Reserve, John never had the opportunity to learn sign language. He is only able to communicate with his immediate family, using familiar gestures that we have grown accustomed to. Friends and acquaintances have a hard time grasping what he is trying to express.
With the implementation of the communication book and the iPad with the Touch Chat Word Power 24 app over the past several months, there has been a big improvement in John’s communication skills. As a result, direct service has been changed to monitor service, whereby we will receive periodic phone calls from CAYA, regarding John’s progress.
Having the use of the iPad on a long-term basis and following the instructions on the Goal Sheets by his Speech and Language Pathologist, Johns’ ability to communicate with Family, friends and acquaintances will continue to improve.
Thank you, CAYA
