The Inclusive Design Research Centre (IDRC) has brought together a three-part research report examining communication accessibility for Canadians who experience communication disabilities within federally regulated contexts. The research explores available communication supports and approaches, and recommendations for improving communication access, with the findings intended to inform the development of an Equitable Communication Standard.
The project builds on previous research and recommendations from Communication Disabilities Access Canada and was developed with input from an advisory panel, including CAYA’s Program Manager, Lois Turner. Together, the reports highlight the importance of recognizing communication as a two-way process and ensuring people can access the methods, technologies and human supports they need to understand and be understood.
